| İSTANBUL IAPO 2010 DÜNYA KONGRESİ’NE EVSAHİPLİĞİ YAPACAK | 01.06.2009 |
| SERDE Sağlığa Erişim Derneği’nin girişimiyle, dünya hasta örgütlerinin merkezi birliği olan IAPO Uluslararası Hasta Örgütleri Birliği (International Alliance for Patients Organizations)’nin 2010 Dünya Kongresi İstanbul’da yapılacak. SERDE’nin Kongre’nin İstanbul’da yapılması için başlatmış olduğu girişim, IAPO Yönetim Kurulu tarafından kabul edilerek, Kongre’nin 23-25 Şubat 2010 tarihlerinde İstanbul’da yapılması kararlaştırıldı.
IAPO’nun 4. Uluslararası Kongresi’ne hasta örgütleri ve ülke temsilcilerinden, akademisyen ve politikacılardan oluşan yaklaşık 250-300 kişi katılacaktır. Kongre’nin teması ve kapsamı ile ilgili daha detaylı ayrıntılar, önümüzdeki günlerde açıklanacaktır. Kongre 3 günlük bir kongre olacak ve bir günü münhasıran hasta örgütlerinin sorunlarına ayrılacaktır. IAPO’nun geçen yılki kongresine 40 dolayında ülkeden katılım olmuştur. 2010’da ülke sayısının bu rakamın da üzerine çıkması beklenmektedir.
2010 İstanbul Kongresi’ne mahsus olmak üzere, Doğu Akdeniz, Ortadoğu ve Kuzey Afrika bölgelerini kapsayacak ve hasta odaklı sağlıkla ilgili bölgesel konuların tartışılacağı bir oturum da düzenlenecektir. Bölge Oturumu’nun çerçevesi, SERDE’nin bölge ülkelerinin hasta örgütleri ile yapacağı istişareler sonucunda belirlenecektir. Oturumda ayrıca, Türkiye’de sağlığa erişim konusunda yaşanan gelişmeler ve sorunların ele alınacağı bir çalışma grubu (workshop) da yeralacaktır.
Bilindiği gibi, Uluslararası Hasta Örgütleri Birliği IAPO, dünyanın pek çok ülkesinden hastalık bazında, ya da hasta odaklı sağlığa erişim konusunda faaliyet gösteren örgütlerin üye olduğu tek uluslararası hasta örgütleri birliğidir.
IAPO’nun kuruluşunda yeralan ve dünyada tüm ülkelerde yerleştirmeye çalıştığı en önemli ilke, sağlığa erişimin hasta odaklı olarak yürütülmesi gerektiğidir.
Büyük ölçüde bu ilkenin çerçevesini belirlediği IAPO’nun misyonu;
- Çeşitli ülkelerdeki hasta örgütleri ile aktif ilişki kurmak suretiyle, onların ülkelerinde yaratacakları etkiyi artırarak,
- Sağlığa erişim politikaları ile ilgili konularda, uluslararası, bölgesel ve ulusal gündemleri belirlemek üzere, dünya çapında hastaların sözcülüğünü yaparak ve
- Sağlık sektörünün; hastaneler, doktorlar, ilaç ve tıbbi araç-gereç üreticileri, politikacılar, akademisyenler, araştırmacılar ve diğer paydaşları ile yakın ilişki içinde çalışarak
hasta odaklı sağlığa erişimi kolaylaştırmaktır.

| IAPO is delighted to announce that the 4th Global Patients Congress will be held in Istanbul, Turkey.
IAPO’s Congress provides a unique opportunity for patient advocates, across diseases and across borders, to come together and participate in an exciting agenda which will help to foster global networks, develop practical skills, and enable engagement and understanding of key policy issues affecting patients in the international arena.
As IAPO increases its membership in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, it is appropriate and exciting to be able to invite you to this event in Istanbul, a city founded on three great civilizations, where the East meets the West. Whether this is your first time, or your fourth time at IAPO’s Global Patients Congress, we hope that you will enjoy the multi-disciplinary, participative and supportive environment at this unique international event.

| Strengthening Global Healthcare Systems: The Value of Patient Engagement - Istanbul, Turkey -23-25 February 2010
We are pleased to announce a new opportunity for IAPO members to be involved in the next Global Patients Congress to help make it the most stimulating and relevant Congress yet.
We are introducing a ‘Call for Proposals’. This represents a fantastic opportunity to take a more active role in the Congress through organizing a session, giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. You can raise the profile of your organization, share information about your activities towards patient involvement in your region, country or disease area with patient groups and other key healthcare stakeholders from all over the world.
Your submission can focus on one, or both, of the following:
1. The overall Congress theme of ‘Strengthening Global Healthcare Systems: The Value of Patient Engagement’. You could show how the work you are doing adds to our understanding of: the concept of patient engagement; evidence of its value or successful patient engagement models. Your proposal could share, for example, best practice case studies or models, research data or evidence, or frameworks. You can focus on patient engagement in any of a wide range of areas such as (but not restricted to): access to health; patient safety; patient information; chronic disease self-management; the power of partnerships; and globalisation and health.
2. A Capacity Building area such as (but not restricted to) fundraising, advocacy, communications, organizational development and governance.
How to apply
Application is through submission of a proposal. Please click here to download the form. Proposals should be between 250 and 500 words long and include: your name; title of proposal, brief details and how the work adds to our understanding or development of patient involvement. You should also indicate whether your proposal is to: organize a session, deliver an oral presentation or present a poster. The proposal should be written in English and emailed to admin@patientsorganizations.org. Papers will be selected through a review procedure. Please read the notes and guidelines, available below, before submitting a proposal. By submitting a proposal you agree to these conditions. We would be more than happy to discuss your ideas with you before you submit them. We look forward to hearing from you!

Notes and guidelines
Selection procedure
A review procedure will be applied to all proposals. The Programme Committee of the Congress Organizing Committee, composed of IAPO members, board and staff, will assess submissions to ensure they contain all requested information and select those based on merit and relevance to the programme. We regret that not all proposals will be successful because of time and venue constraints. Therefore, proposals will be selected on how well they fit into the programme’s main theme of patient involvement, whether they are clearly expressed and in order to meet the aims of the Congress to represent global and diverse issues. For those that are not successful on this occasion we would encourage you to bring information about your organization which can be displayed in a members area of the Congress. We will notify you on whether or not you are successful, by 31 July 2009.
Costs of attending the Congress
Please note that, unfortunately, because of limited funds, IAPO CANNOT cover the cost of attendance at the Congress of successful applicants. If your proposal is successful, you will need to register for, and pay (where applicable), for the Congress by a set deadline of Monday 16 November otherwise your involvement will be cancelled. However, as an IAPO member, you are entitled to apply for the IAPO bursary to cover some or all of the costs of your atte |
